Teamwork and Collaboration – 2 Days
This exciting two-day exploration of teamwork skills and understanding the benefits of collaboration to succeed at work is aimed at team leaders, supervisors, and managers of people, who would like to develop and perfect their skills in a team environment.
Through highly practical and hands-on learning activity, delegates experience how a team grows and develops to achieve maximum performance. Participants will understand the roles people adopt when leading and working with others as part of a team; each will discover their own personal strengths and how to use them to best effect within the context of managing a team.
Course Content
Creating a cohesive team
Understanding your team by knowing what drives the highs and lows, and what might hinder a team’s effectiveness is a good place to start the course content. This quickly moves on exploring the values that exist within our teams, and what are the specific team challenges? This practical activity also explores the expectations a team has of its manager or supervisor and how does the leader meet those expectations.
Communicating with a team
An effective manager at any level, is an effective communicator. As well as general communication skills, we uncover how to be concise, consistent, empathetic, and present. The skill involved with facilitating meaningful discussions is also covered.
Encouraging collaboration
An effective and high performing team values the contribution made by all members of the team. What is the value we put on each other? How does the team demonstrate collaboration and respect for each other? Do we recognise diversity and different working styles within our teams? These questions are explored through discussion and reflection
Resolving conflict
Conflict will develop in any team however understanding the potential sources of conflict can help to minimise it. The content also looks at identifying and resolving conflict should it occur. Managers learn the important skill of influencing and how this greatly enhances management and communication style.
Facilitating skills
Building team cohesion using facilitation is a vital skill in any managers toolkit. Through formal input and a practical session, participants learn the questioning techniques essential to the art of facilitation. Following the practical session review, participates are invited to think forward to consider what action they will take to implement their newly found skills.

Use Actors in Your Training
Through clever script writing, goose-bump inducing delivery and professional facilitation we can bring so much to life. We stimulate emotion, penetrate the long-term memory and create lasting change.
When we use live drama, we are able to have the actors play out the scenario and then be hot seated for the audience to ask them questions whilst they remain in character. Hot seating works so well because actors work with a pre-rehearsed backstory, so they are able to respond in character. They progressively reveal unexpected elements of their story that will not have previously been told. It can bust assumptions that the audience might have made based on the scenario (situation) but not fully understanding the impact at first sight.
Using actors in this programme enables us to bring to:
- See a typical situation from a different perspective
- Give attendees a chance to challenge the actors whilst they are still in character
- Demonstrate that things aren’t always what they seem at first glance
- Provide delegates with an opportunity to test out alternative ways of approaching different situations
- Create an experience which stays in the long-term memory
