Institute Banking Studies

The Story

The Institute of Banking Studies, locally known as IBS, has over 50 years of experience in the banking and financial sector of Kuwait.

IBS sought a people development organisation to provide a range of knowledge-based Leadership and Management programmes and started a relationship with RightTrack Learning in the early 2000’s.

The Programme

Delegates from multiple banking and financial organisations, such as Commercial Bank and Boubyan Bank, attended training sessions, including one of our flagship modular management programmes to develop their knowledge and skills.

The programme, which was bespoke to the client, was designed to ensure attendees had an expert understanding and a very practical view of managing and leading teams, whilst also addressing elements such as performance management, honest communication, team development and authentic leadership.

Prior to the delivery, the training team shaped the content to be specific to meet the needs of the banking sector by working closely with IBS and considering elements such as:

  • the challenges of recruiting the right people into banking
  • how to motivate individuals and teams
  • developing appropriate leadership styles to suit a range of generations
  • the best solution to dealing with under-performing employees
  • how to encourage collaborative teamwork in order to ensure customer service excellence

Facilitated in a participative manner, RightTrack’s highly-experienced training specialist conducted relatable discussions, group learning activities and sector-specific role-plays using actors. The learning was supported with practical work-based assignments, designed to help transfer learning from the training room to the workplace.

The Impact

The latest thinking in leadership and management models made this a very inspiring and interesting programme which was delivered over a 6-month period, with attendees creating a detailed action plan to implement on their return to work.

When delivering a programme at IBS, there is a wonderful sense of collaboration with the training support team. This team provides all the administration, day to day delegate support, as well as providing well organised training facilities. This, combined with a well delivered modular programme ensured we had excellent feedback and comments of praise from our attendees.

Years later, one delegate commented how much the programme had helped her with her management career; from attending the sessions as a first-time manager to now in a senior management role in the banking sector.
